PROJECT ENGINEER – PROPELLANT SYSTEMS

 

Responsibilities:

 

The Project Engineer is the technical lead on internal and external projects and is responsible for all technical aspects of the project/product from concept through development , qualification and production.  Duties include cost estimating , requirements generation and flow-down , technical compliance and risk assessment , coordination of project team technical tasks , development and maintenance of the technical data package and product testing requirements and methods.

 

Requirements:

 

The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of project , design or related engineering experience specific to thrusters and propellants.  Mechanical and Chemical are the preferred engineering disciplines.  Knowledge of thrusters or other relevant solid propulsion components and systems experience is required.  Other related experience includes initiators and propellant initiation characteristics , thruster testing and data acquisition , problem solving/root cause analysis , leadership of technical teams , technical writing , and cost estimating.  Candidates should have the ability to interpret and analyze mechanical , chemical and/or electrical specifications and data.

Material Manager

Manage, lead and continually improve Material/Logistics activities.  This includes responsibility for developing, maintaining and improving relationships with, and performance of the supplier base; monitoring and continually improving the effectiveness of scheduling manufacturing work and doing business with suppliers (from concept development through final delivery of production hardware); monitoring and continually improving, with Engineering, the material definition and release process; managing, leading and developing Buyer/Planner, Supplier Quality Assurance, and Material Control personnel to achieve the above and continually improve activities and procedures through application of lean concepts; chairing the supplier business improvement committee (SBIC) and participating as a member of the MRT. 

Work closely with all departments to support and advance the ability to develop and deliver products to customers on time, on quality and on cost, all the time.   The incumbent must be or become a lean practitioner.  The incumbent must be a coach and a facilitator.

Knowledge of DOT, ATF, DoD and OSHA regulatory requirements relative to this field is required. 

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; should have a minimum of fifteen years of related business experience.
